The Geneva women's basketball clubs[2] played Sunday, November 20, the annual Coupe de Genève, won in 1935 by Atalante, in 1936 by U.G.S., and in 1937 by Atalante.
After many difficulties to obtain the "Palais des Expositions" [Exhibition Center][3], this event finally took place at the Electoral Building[4], a room which is particularly suitable for this kind of competition.
From 9 am to noon and from 2 to 5 pm, the meetings followed one another without interruption and the teams competed in ardor and skill to appropriate the pretty prizes made available to them.
The results of these different matches:
Alalante--CA.G. : 25-11
S.S.U.--Chêne: 4-12
U.G.S.--Servette: 11-21
C.A.G. --S.S.U. : 21-5
C.A.G. --U.G,S.: 12-15
Chêne--Alalante: 5-34
Servette-- U.G.S. : 13-14
S.S.U. --C.A.G. : 6-21
In the final, Atalante beats U.G.S. 22-16.
The Cup therefore goes definitively to Atalanta who won it three times.
U.G.S. won the second prize, a ball from Maison Allegri-Sport, and C.A.G. the consolation cup. Servette and Chêne are tied and S.S.U. in last place.

This event, organized by the Women's Commission under the control of the Technical Committee, has been very successful, and already the CF which seeks to develop women's basketball in Geneva and Switzerland, prepared for next spring, after the championships. Geneva, an international tournament with the participation of French, Italian and Swiss teams.[5]
At the moment the championship is taking place in the training premises, but we have a lot of difficulties, rooms too small, irregular schedule, etc., and the CF hopes that the Technical Committee will want to examine the possibility of finishing our championship in the room of the Electoral Building.
It would certainly be preferable for women's basketball.
Notes:
Mom mentioned playing basketball, but otherwise left no memories of doing so (other than saving this issue).
It appears that the teams (other than Mom's university team) were part of more established sporting clubs in Geneva. The "S.S.U." was the University club, but have not found what the initials mean. Servette, according to German Wikipedia, "was a successful Swiss basketball club from Geneva , Switzerland in the 1930s and 1940s ." U.G.S. is Urania Geneve Sport (a professional basketball club, part of a continuing "Swiss omnisport club based in Geneva. Its football section was founded in 1896."). C.A.G. was "Club Athlétique de Genève" which continues to exist as Centre Athlétique de Genève (but just athletics now?). There is a current Chêne basketball club, founded in 1945, but cannot find anything about a predecessor. Can find no references to the champion Atalante team (except to see there was a Brussels team also called Atalante in the Belgium league).
This building appears to have been a separate (and older) one attached to the Palais. See this article.
Now the "Ancien" Palais, it was opened in 1926 (see photo) and ceased to be used when the new Palexpo opened in 1982. Its site is now a public garden.
Found a poster that the first European (men's) basketball championship was held in 1935 at the Palais.
5/28/1937: Presumably before Mom was playing, but shows that one of her teammates (Baud) was good enough to play in a combined Geneva team in an Italian championship game.
12/15/1938: Summary of results presumably following on the championship above. Shows University team (not abbreviated S.S.U.) being beaten by the second Atalante team.
